Why don't you take it in steps then? You could find someone who could give their thoughts on your work. Then you could find an editor... If you can find people who can offer honest critique, then you'll know that your writing is the best that it can be once you share it with others.
You don't have to, but I think it would be nice. I'm not a writer, so I like seeing how other people view the world. It's like watching someone fill in a sketch with color for me, so I'm sure it's the same for others.
